Get Discovered: How Customers Find Your Place on Mosey
Mosey · 22 September 2026 · 4 min read

Being on Mosey is free, and most of the ways customers find you are free too. This is what actually drives discovery, roughly in order of how much work each one takes.
Your profile and your ratings
Every place has a profile with its menu, photos, opening hours and ratings. Customers rate individual dishes, not just the venue, and they add photographs and a price impression as they go.
That matters more than a star average, because it means your best dish becomes findable on its own. You can respond to any rating publicly, which is usually the single highest-value ten minutes a manager spends in the week.
Mosey Gold
Gold is an earned quality mark shown wherever your place appears — on cards, in search, and as a ring on your map pin. It replaces the rating number rather than sitting beside it as another badge.
A venue earns Gold at 4.70 and only loses it below 4.40, so a single ordinary night cannot take it away. It cannot be bought, boosted or subscribed to. Self-ratings by owners, hidden ratings and shadow-banned raters are all excluded from the calculation.
It is the one signal on Mosey that changes how prominent you look, and it is the one signal money cannot touch.
Place hubs and Mosey Travel
Mosey organises places geographically — country, region, city, town, and neighbourhoods beneath a city. Each is a hub with its own page, its own leaderboards and sections built from real activity: most-rated places, standout dishes, local favourites.
You appear in your hub automatically. Nothing to set up, and the better your ratings the higher you sit. For a visitor deciding where to eat in a town they do not know, this is the page they land on.
There is also a "Books out fast" badge for venues whose tables genuinely go early, computed from real demand rather than claimed.
Dish discovery
Individual dishes are their own discovery unit. A photographed, well-rated dish surfaces on the Dishes page across venues, and people search for the thing they want to eat rather than the place. A single good plate can bring people in who have never heard of your business.
Photograph your dishes. It is the cheapest marketing on the platform.
Food trails
A trail is a route between several places with a single ticket. A customer buys once, visits each stop and collects a stamp, and the takings are split among the stops they actually visited.
For a lead venue it is a way to bring a group of independents together into something none of them could offer alone. Trails run at 8% commission, settled weekly, with the net split equally among the partner stops a customer actually stamped.
Paid outreach, when you want to push
Everything above is free. When you have something worth announcing, you can pay to push it:
- Boost sends a notification to your followers at €0.12 each and to nearby customers who opted into discovery at €0.16 each. You see the exact audience size and the exact price before you pay, and campaigns over 150 recipients get 20% off automatically.
- Sponsored posts put your content in the social feed at €0.03 per view or €0.10 per click.
- Win-back campaigns re-engage customers and members who have gone quiet. Re-engaging a lapsed regular is far cheaper than finding a stranger, and almost nobody does it.
Everyone who receives any of this opted in, so you are reaching people who chose to hear about places like yours.
What it costs
Profiles, ratings, Gold, place hubs and dish discovery are free. Trails are 8% on paid tickets. Boost, sponsored posts and win-back are pay-as-you-go with the price shown before you commit, and there is no monthly fee for any of it.
Setting it up
- Complete your profile — hours, location, photos and a real description. Half-finished profiles rank badly and convert worse.
- Get your menu in. Photograph your existing menu and let the scanner read it if typing it is what has been stopping you. Dishes cannot surface if they are not there.
- Photograph your best dishes. This is the highest-return thing on this list.
- Ask your regulars to rate you — dish ratings, not just stars. Gold follows from genuine ratings and nothing else.
- Respond to your ratings, good and bad. It is public and customers read it.
- Check your hub — search your town and see where you sit against the places near you.
- Only then consider boosting. Paid reach amplifies a good profile; it cannot rescue an empty one.
What it connects to
- Loyalty and memberships — the customers discovery brings you are the ones these features keep.
- Order Ahead and delivery — a customer who found you through a dish can order from that dish immediately.
- Trails — a good relationship with nearby venues turns into a shared ticket.
- Reservations — the "Books out fast" badge is computed from real booking demand.
Questions
Common questions
Does it cost anything to be discovered on Mosey?
No. A profile, your ratings, the Gold mark, place hubs and dish discovery are all free. Boost, sponsored posts and win-back campaigns are optional and pay-as-you-go.
What is Mosey Gold and how do I get it?
Gold is an earned quality mark shown wherever your venue appears. A venue earns it at a 4.70 rating and only loses it below 4.40, so one bad night cannot remove it. It cannot be bought or boosted.
Can I pay to rank higher?
Not on quality. Gold is the only signal that changes how prominent your venue looks, and it is earned from genuine ratings only. Boost and sponsored posts add reach, but they do not move you up the quality ranking.
How do I appear in my town's page?
Automatically. Every venue is placed in its city or town hub, and your position reflects your ratings and activity. There is nothing to configure.
What is dish discovery?
Customers rate and photograph individual dishes, and those dishes surface across venues on the Dishes page. Someone searching for what they want to eat can find your plate without knowing your name.
What is a food trail?
A route between several places on one ticket. Customers visit each stop and collect a stamp, and the money is split among the stops they actually visited. Paid trails run at 8% commission, settled weekly.
What does a Boost cost?
€0.12 per follower notified and €0.16 per nearby customer notified, with 20% off automatically over 150 recipients. You see the exact audience and price before you pay, and you only pay for notifications that actually send.
Who receives a Boost?
Your followers, nearby customers who opted into discovering new places, and your members if you run a membership. Everyone has opted in, so you are not interrupting anyone.
What is a win-back campaign?
A targeted nudge to customers and members who used to come in and have gone quiet. Winning back a lapsed regular costs a fraction of finding a new customer, and most places never try.
What is the single best thing I can do to get discovered?
Photograph your dishes and get your menu in. Dish discovery is where people search for what they want to eat, and a dish that is not on your menu cannot be found, rated or ordered.
