Grow Revenue: Vouchers, Promotions, Events and Memberships
Mosey · 22 September 2026 · 5 min read

Most food businesses have the same two problems: quiet periods that cost money, and customers who came once and never came back. Mosey's revenue tools exist for both. They are separate features you can turn on one at a time, and none of them requires a subscription.
Gift vouchers: get paid before the visit
A customer buys a voucher in the app, for themselves or as a gift, and spends it with you later. You are paid when it is bought, not when it is redeemed, which is cash in the business ahead of the meal.
You set a minimum amount, an optional expiry and your own terms. You can also offer bonus credit — someone who buys €50 gets €55 to spend — which is a proven way to lift the value people buy.
Vouchers redeem in parts. If a customer spends half, the balance stays on the voucher for another visit, so a single gift can bring someone back three or four times. Each redemption counts as a loyalty visit too.
Gifting is built in: send by username or email with an occasion, a message, a theme and even a scheduled delivery date.
Commission: 4.5%.
Promotions and Deal Hours: fill the quiet stretches
A promotion can be a percentage or fixed amount off, a free item, a multi-visit bundle, or a ticket a customer buys now and redeems later. Ticketed promotions are paid up front, so they bring cashflow forward the same way a voucher does.
Deal Hours are automatic off-peak price drops. You set a rule once — all coffees 50c off, weekdays 10:00 to 12:00 — and the lower prices simply appear on your menu during that window and disappear afterwards. There is nothing to switch on and off, and nothing to remember.
Because you choose the exact days and hours, you discount the mid-afternoon lull rather than the Saturday night you would have sold out anyway.
Commission: 4.5%.
Events and gatherings
Ticketed events get their own page on your profile, full redemption tracking and no per-ticket fee. Customers can join a waitlist when you sell out, and are offered a place automatically if one frees up.
Gatherings are the enquiry side: a customer asks about a party, a private dining night or a group booking, you quote, and they can counter. Once confirmed it becomes a real reservation. You can take a deposit against it to protect the date.
Commission: 4% on event tickets, 4.5% on gathering deposits. Reservation deposits are different — those pass to you in full at 0%.
Memberships: recurring revenue from your regulars
A membership is a plan your regulars subscribe to, monthly or annually, for benefits you define: a standing discount, a free item, free delivery, priority booking slots, skipped deposits, a monthly credit, or a plain-English perk like a members' table on Fridays.
You control it tightly. Benefits can be capped per visit, limited by quota, restricted to particular channels, or restricted to particular days and times. You can make an event or a promotion member-only, or give members a priority window where they see something before anyone else.
There is also a coalition option, where several venues share one membership and settle between themselves — a way for a group of independents to offer something a chain would.
Members do not churn like ordinary customers, and they arrive with a reason to choose you.
Commission: 8%.
Early Bird
Set a discount or perk on specific booking slots and days, and it shows on those slots when a customer is choosing a time. It is the cheapest way to move demand off your peak and into the hour before it. The perk is honoured in the venue, so there is no deposit or payment to handle.

Setting it up
- Connect Stripe from Business Info → Account Setup. Nothing here can take money until you have.
- Start with vouchers. They need the least setup — a minimum amount, an expiry if you want one, and your terms. Add bonus credit if you want to push the average up.
- Add one promotion. Pick your genuinely quiet window and try a single offer rather than five.
- Set a Deal Hour for the same window if the promotion works. It runs itself after that.
- Put your next event on with a ticket price and a capacity, and let the waitlist handle the overflow.
- Build a membership last, once you know which of the above your regulars actually use. Price it against the benefit, and use the caps so a generous perk cannot run away from you.
- Boost whichever one you want seen, to your followers and to nearby customers who opted in.
What it connects to
- Loyalty — voucher redemptions and orders both count as visits automatically.
- Order Ahead and delivery — vouchers, promotions and membership benefits all apply at checkout.
- Reservations — memberships can carry priority slots and skip deposits; Early Bird works on the booking slots themselves.
- Boost and sponsored posts — any of these can be pushed to followers and nearby customers.
- Mosey Pay — membership discounts apply at the till as well as in the app.
Questions
Common questions
What does Mosey charge on vouchers, promotions and events?
Vouchers and promotions are 4.5% and 4.5%, event tickets are 4%, gathering deposits are 4.5%, and memberships are 8%. 23% VAT applies to the commission. There is no monthly fee for any of these.
Do I get paid when a voucher is bought or when it is redeemed?
When it is bought. The money reaches you up front, which is the point — it is cashflow ahead of the visit rather than after it.
What is bonus credit on a voucher?
You can give buyers more spending value than they pay, for example €55 of credit for a €50 voucher. It lifts the average voucher value and it costs you only on redemption.
Can a voucher be spent over several visits?
Yes. Partial redemption is built in — the remaining balance stays on the voucher until it runs out, so one gift can bring a customer back repeatedly.
What are Deal Hours?
Automatic off-peak price drops. You set the discount and the window once, for example all coffees 50c off on weekday mornings, and the prices apply and lift themselves. There is nothing to switch on and off each day.
What is the difference between an event and a gathering?
An event is a ticketed thing you publish and sell places to. A gathering is an enquiry for a party or private dining that you quote on, which becomes a reservation once confirmed.
Do reservation deposits carry commission?
No. Reservation deposits pass to you in full at 0%. Gathering deposits are different and carry 4.5%.
What can a membership actually give members?
A standing discount, a free item, free delivery, priority booking slots, skipped deposits, a monthly credit, or a free-text perk for something experiential. Benefits can be capped per visit, limited by quota, and restricted by channel or by day and time.
What is a coalition membership?
Several venues sharing one membership plan, with settlement handled between them. It lets a group of independents offer the kind of multi-location membership a chain would, without merging their businesses.
Do I need a subscription to use any of this?
No. Vouchers, promotions, Deal Hours, events, gatherings and memberships are all commission-only. Reservations is the feature with paid tiers, and it is separate.
